COPPS members volunteer to help with the annual Shop with a Cop event to help under privileged children

Shop with a Cop is an annual charity event organized by the PPOA to help under privileged children buy gifts for themselves and their family to make Christmas a little brighter.  Money is raised by donations and fundraisers from various businesses and community organizations, like COPPS, to help those families in need have a Merry Christmas. 

Members of COPPS and the PPOA worked with the Peoria Police Department to gather all 50 children participating in this years event together, drove them in a Police car caravan to a Peoria Target Store (also a Sponsor), and helped them shop for gifts.  This year each child was given a gift card for 350.00 to buy gifts for Christmas.  The Volunteer Officers and Sergeants took the children around the store and helped them select gifts for their family.  Each family was also give a turkey dinner to enjoy on Christmas Day.

It is a wonderful annual event where the Police Officers and Sergeants get to join with the community and have a joyful time together during this merry holiday season, all in the spirit of giving.   

COPPS is proud to support this wonderful event and will continue to participate every year.
